Continuing themes that have defined White’s practice, such as her deep fascination with color, pattern, and texture, along with the vibrant, often unexpected combinations found in nature, this new series transforms collaged imagery of soft, iridescent butterfly wings into luminous compositions reminiscent of stained glass.
The artwork is created in collaboration with the Wixárika community of Jalisco, Mexico, led by Manolo Castro Montoya and including Guillermo López Carrillo, Carlos Eduardo Castro de la Cruz, Santa Bárbara Nayarit, Érika de la Cruz Montoya, Zulma Daniel Salas, Isaías Sotero Carrillo, and Claudia López de la Cruz. A portion of the proceeds will be donated in support of the Wixáritari artisans.
