Untitled Door (1981–82) is painted on found wood documented in-situ by Tseng Kwong Chi, and is included in the 1982 catalogue by Tony Shafrazi. The work belongs to a small group of three doors produced during this period; this example is the final one in the sequence and concentrates on a particularly charged subject. The door exemplifies Haring’s engagement with found objects, doors, and metal sheeting, using existing infrastructure as both surface and conduit for his expanding public vocabulary.
