Monumental yet delicate, Pae White’s hanging sculptures are kaleidoscopic compositions of delicate strands of thread gently weighted by cut papers, as well as silk-screened pieces of steel. In her practice, the artist pays particular attention to the space surrounding her works, moved by the desire to build a connection between the latter and her oeuvres. White’s mobiles have a mystifying allure: as they engage with the lights and reflect themselves all around, they animate their surroundings and invite the viewers to experience the space they are in under new circumstances. Challenging the traditional idea of what sculpture is, or should be, her mobiles are reduced to what the artist herself calls “an exploration of movement contained in a flurry of color and gentle movement”.

Among others Pae White mobiles have been exhibited at San Jose Museum of Art (2020); Saarlandmuseum, Saarbrücken (2017); Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, St. Louis (2016) and Langen Museum, Neuss (2013).

Pae White work has been exhibited internationally in several solo exhibitions in venues such as San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose (2019); Moderne Galerie, Saarbrücken, (2017); Le Stanze del Vetro, Venice (2017); Henry Art Gallery, Seattle (2015); MAK – museum of applied arts, Wien (2013); Langen Foundation, Neuss (2013); South London Gallery, London (2013); The Power Plant, Toronto (2011) and many others. Pae White has participated to the NGV Triennial, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (2017); the Whitney Biennial (2010); 53rd Venice Biennal (2009); The Prague Triennale (2008). Among White's recent group shows, we can mention Istanbul Modern, Istanbul; Lismore Castle Arts, Ireland (2016); PAC – Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, Milano (2015); Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2013); Museé d’Art Moderne, Paris (2013); Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2013); Solomon Guggenheim Museum, New York; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2010); Tate Modern, London; The Jewish Museum, New York; Triennale Milano, Milano (2006) and many others.
