Untitled FDR #5 and #6 (1984) are monumental segments from the FDR Drive Mural. The project originally consisted of 30 construction panels spanning 300 feet of New York’s East River Highway. Haring was commissioned by Marquette University’s Haggerty Museum of Art, which installed the panels at 4 1/2 feet off the ground. The diptych presents continuous, interlocking figures that preserve the mural’s sequential structure and vehicular viewing logic, designed to be read in motion by drivers moving parallel to the FDR.
